DWAR.f was originally formed by CHAK.i and OTHE.r in 1996. Not yet known as DWAR.f, the project was called the Creative Music Workshop (CMW). Originally envisioned as a means to facilitate a spontaneous, sonic communion with any like-sounded souls that wanted to participate, CMW put out 2 releases - '
Return of The Yellow Emperor' and '
HuH?'. The 2 CMW releases epitomized the phrase 'lo-fi', using a $30 casio sampler and a cheap 4 track recorder, as well as lots of percussion instruments. CHAK.i and OTHE.r realized that perhaps Earth was not ready to participate in their cheerful musical insanity and decided to shut down the CMW. Ten years and many solo musical projects later, CHAK.i and OTHE.r decided to reunite and release a new project to the world in order to celebrate the holidays and thus the
Christmas EP was born. The reception was so overwhelming, and the project so enjoyable, CHAK.i and OTHE.r decided to do more projects projects together under the moniker DWAR.f. Five albums have been released since the
Christmas EP and DWAR.f doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
